Just saw the new ridiculous rules for the highly skilled migrant programmes (HSMP) at the Home Office website...
I guess they have some real imbeciles making policies! According to the new rules, anyone outside the EU will have to provide evidence to demonstrate their ability to understand Englsih, which is fair enough. But as evidence they ask for IELTS certificate within the last 2 years . Can you really forget to read, write, speak and understand English after a period of 2 years (only if you suffered from amnesia, I guess!) This is "irrespective of the fact that you are a national of a country where the main language is English". I find this extremely strange that people from the EU, who may not have even studied in English, are given free entry to the UK, and those, who probably have a better knowledge of English than even the locals, have to prove it every 2 years!

It is such a nice day today, but I have a lot of things to do. Just recieved my job starter pack and have to go to apply for NI number.
I wonder who writes on the DWP website, for an address of Merthyr, they give a post code of Cardiff!! As is that was not enough, the phone number takes you into another world where they dont want to listen to you at any cost, and forward you to a number that is always busy.
It estimates about 430,000 but the number could be between 310,000 and 570,000 and moreover, it does not include asylum seekers whose claims are being processed, or who are appealing against a refusal.
I wonder how come Tony Blair had no idea of these figures just weeks before the elcetion and suddenly they come up with such statistics!!

What is the real problem? Is it out-of-bounds immigration or benefits system or asylum policies?
Were the tories right when they said they wanted to cap immigration?

Well, I am an immigrant too, I am a doctor from India, you can call me an economic immigrant, and I think the problem in UK is illegal immigration on unskilled people who don't even know the language!!
And these come not only from Asia or Africa but also from EU countries. After a year or so, they qualify for public funds and benefits and leave their jobs to rest for the whole life.
Whereas we doctors (or any professionals) pay equivalent taxes and NI contributions without being eligible for any benefits.
So is it our loss or the government's loss who metes out favours to those taking unfair advantage of the system?

I wonder what happens when promising junior champions turn to the senior categories
Is it that competition is not very strong at junior levels or is it that we cant provide enough training to our junior champions to be at par with quality players in the senior category?
And why do Indian tennis champions in doubles fail to reach standards in singles?
Recent plans of using Valley of Kashmir as sport training grounds from 2007 miht be a step forward and lets hope that these training grounds are not just some more cricket pitches.
